My obvious point, Jonathan, is that the leaders of our
environmental organizations are not in a position to
"lead by example" in regards to the population control
issue which may explain why, as Roger Kuhlman pointed out,
"they are not pushing to stop human population growth
in America." Ditto in regards to other resource consumption
issues; i.e. environmental organizations are not pushing to
stop construction of large homes or large vehicles or
high horsepower engines. They are not even trying to
create a social stigma against owning them.

Worse, the dues paying members of these environmental
organization are not offended or shocked when it is pointed
out to them that their leaders routinely buy big homes and cars
and sometimes have 3 kids.

Practical example: Some butterfly enthusiasts I know voted for
John Edwards in the presidential primaries because of his
good voting records on environmental issues. Then when
I pointed out to them that John owns the largest open space
consuming home in his County:

they were not shocked or offended.
