Note, while concentrated on US ticks, Tyler also touches on the research he conducted in Africa on ticks of veterinary importance. Tyler also generously provided a PDF of his presentation if that would help anyone. http://texasento.net/Tyler_Intro_Ticks.pdf Thanks Tyler, the Austin Butterfly Forum much appreciated your presentation!! Somebody is importing cocoons and one hatched and escaped. More than 25 years ago a friend who was interested in raising moths (mostly polyphemus) was able to buy some Giant Atlas moth cocoons and brought one adult to work in a paper bag. I can?t remember how he found out how to buy the cocoons. It?s not a surprise this is still going on. If they could survive in the wild and reproduce I?ll bet there have been many opportunities over the years to do so. > On Aug 19, 2022, at 6:54 PM, Mike Quinn wrote: > > FYI, Mike Quinn, Austin, Tx > > ---------- Forwarded message --------- > From: Glada McIntyre <***@gmail.com > > Date: Fri, Aug 19, 2022 at 8:48 PM > Subject: giant Asian moth now in Washington State > To: > > > From Entomo-L > > What's up with all the giant insect species from Asia showing up in western Washington these days! > > https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/first-u-s-sighting-of-one-of-the-worlds-largest-moths-in-bellevue-puzzles-officials/ > > > To share ENTOMO-L with others, please have them email listserv at lists.psu.edu and in the body of the email put: ?Subscribe Entomo-L Firstname Lastname?
