* ICE CREAM SOCIAL * Wed, July 12, 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Take a break from the heat in the HGS courtyard with an ice cream social! Make
your own ice cream sundae, with all the toppings. Meet old friends and make new
ones in the HGS Courtyard (rain site: Common Room).

* SUMMER CABARET AT YALE * Wed, July 12, 8 p.m.
Savage/Love & Tongues by Sam Shepard and Joseph Chaikin, Directed by Nelson T.
Eusebio III. An exploration--in dance and music--of love and what it means to
be human Cost $13. Show starts at 8 p.m.; doors open for dinner at 6:30 p.m.

* QUASSY THEME PARK * Fri, July 14, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
The McDougal Center is sponsoring a day out at Quassy Amusement park, a
historic, family theme park on the shore of Lake Quassapaug in nearby
Middlebury, Connecticut. Quassy has rides for all ages and the ?Saturation
station? water park. For more information: www.quassy.com July 14th only
tickets are $14 for Yale Grad Student/Postdoc adults w/o kids, $12 for grad
parents and their children. Ticket price includes all day ride &, water park
pass, and one hour group BBQ lunch in the picnic area, with free food and soft
drinks. That?s a regular $25 value. Purchase tix in advance @ 123 HGS,
McDougal Center, Mon-Fri, 1-5pm, cash or check. No refunds, no rain date.

* INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE STUDENT MENTOR * Apply by July 15
Mentors who are native English speakers, Science/math/engineering and Econ
students and those from India, China & Germany especially needed. Mentor a new
international graduate student this summer! Do you remember what it was like to
be new to Yale, to New Haven or even to the US? International and US citizens
who are current Yale Graduate School students or post doctoral fellows can be
mentors in the International Graduate Student Mentor Program, sponsored by
Student Life at the McDougal Center. It's a small amount of effort for a lot of
fun- free food, coffee and T-shirt too! For more information and to apply, fill

* ACCEPTING McDOUGAL FELLOW APPLICATIONS * Deadline, July 17
The McDougal Center is now accepting applications for two McDougal Fellows, one
in Academic Writing, and one in Careers and Professional Development.
    * Academic Writing Program Fellow: Plan and present writing programs, such
as dissertation topic selection panels, dissertation writing workshops,
grant-writing and poster presentation workshops; promote peer editing groups;
manage peer writing review service.
    * Careers and Professional Development: Plan and deliver programs that allow
graduate students to explore new career options, develop new skills, and build
professional networks. Write weekly email Career news. Only full-time,
registered students in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences are eligible
for these positions.
Fellows work 5-7 hours a week with a team partner, with other McDougal Fellows
and with advisors, and are paid a $4,000 honorarium for the academic year.
Fellows must be available for training starting August 24, 2006. For further

Come to the Lower New Haven Green EVERY WEDNESDAY (from July 12th to Aug. 30th)
and bring a lunch from a downtown restaurant. Enjoy live music while you eat at
one of our shaded tables donated by our friends at IKEA. There is also fresh
produce for sale at the Farmers Market (which runs from 1pm to 6pm).

Bring a picnic and see stars under the stars! New Haven presents Friday Flicks
on the Green- The Princess Bride. Bring friends or come alone, as you wish.

* CLUEFEST 2006 * Sat, July 15, 4:00 p.m.
Get Lost. Find New Haven. The Group with No Name invites you to get lost and
find New Haven at Cluefest 2006. Cluefest 2006 is an opportunity to meet new
people and explore famous and not-so-famous treasures in New Haven. Come to
Moka at 4:00 p.m. on 141 Orange Street on Saturday to get specific directions
