Mendelyaners living in or visiting St. Petersburg (Russia) might be
interested by a conference to be held Monday-Wednesday, October 27-29,
commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Society for
Jewish Folk Music.

The conference, which will take place at the Russian Institute for the
History of the Arts (5, St. Isaac's Square), is sponsored by the
Jewish Community Center of St. Petersburg, the Russian Institute for the
History of the Arts, and the St. Petersburg Union of Composers.
Speakers include musicologists and historians from the United States,
Israel, Europe, Russia and other FSU countries. Concerts of music by
Jewish composers will take place Monday and Wednesday evening.
