3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has

Philadelphia and svive Mendelyaner may be interested in the course I'm
teaching this summer at Gratz College. It's an intensive one week course
on the history of Yiddish theater that will run July 20-24. From the
blurb:

This course surveys the history of Yiddish theater from its origins in
premodern Jewish folkways into the present, from the popular theater of
Avrom Goldfaden and New York's Second Avenue to the artistic achievements
of the Vilna Troupe and the Moscow State Yiddish Theater. We will read
theater history, study plays, and watch excerpts of performances.

For those of you who don't know me, I'm theater editor of the recently
published YIVO Encyclopedia of Jews in Eastern Europe.

For further information, you can e-mail me. You can register at
www.gratz.edu or by calling Hope Matles at 215 635 7300 x 172.
