Mendele Personal Notices & Announcements

October 5, 2010

To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests:

1. Send time-sensitive notices well in advance.
2. Send material as plain text: no HTML, other coding, or attachments;and
write MENDELE PERSONALS in the subject line.
3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has
posted the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames.

Subject: Support Sholem Berger's Yiddish-English book of
poetry!

Dear Mendelyaner,

In the 15 years or so that I have subscribed to Mendele, you have taught
me a lot about Yiddish. Now I'm asking for your help and involvement in
the next phase of Yiddish poetry (at least, the phase under my direct
control).

If you become prenumerantn (subscribers) of my Yiddish-English poetry
manuscript, tentatively titled "Not in the Same Breath/Zog Khotsh
Lehavdl," you'll get one of a number of exciting benefits:

* A birthday poem written just for you
* A role in deciding on cover art and title
* A Yiddish or English rhyming couplet
* A Yiddish or English poem written for you every day for a month.

My project is hosted, for now, at the site Kickstarter, which helps
artists of all kinds find support for their creative projects.

I need to hear from you by October 31st. We're off to a great start with
almost 20% of needed funds pledged!

How do you do this? Go to this website: http://kck.st/9eQzVU

Here' s the link again, in long form:

Thanks in advance!

Sholem Berger
