To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests:
1. Send time-sensitive notices well in advance.
2. Send material as plain text:  no HTML, other coding, or attachments;and 
write MENDELE PERSONALS in the subject line.
3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has 
posted the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames.

Call for Papers

The 2nd International Yiddish Theatre Festival sponsored by the Segal 
Centre for the Performing Arts will be held June 13-22, 2011 in Montreal, 
Quebec.  In conjunction with this event, the Department of Jewish Studies 
at McGill University is once again organizing an academic conference on 
Yiddish theatre which will take place on the 16th and 17th of June.

We are seeking papers on the following topics:

The cross-fertilization between European and Yiddish and Yiddish and 
American Theatre

Women in Yiddish Theatre

Yiddish Theatre Music

Yiddish Cinema

Interested parties should submit a 300 word proposal in English by 
February 28, 2011 to sympyiddishtheatre at gmail.com

Travel and hotel subsidies are available.

Complimentary festival passes and a gala Friday night Shabbat dinner will 
be included.

addresses, as responses will be posted for all to read.  They must also

In order to spare the shamosim time and effort, we request that 
contributors adhere, when applicable, as closely as possible to standard 
English punctuation, grammar, etc. and to the YIVO rules of 
transliteration into Latin letters. A guide to Romanization can be found
