Yiddish of Greater Washington and Tifereth Israel present
two poets who write in English and Yiddish. They will read
their poems and discuss what it means to write in Yiddish
and the nature of today's audience for Yiddish literature.

Zackary Sholem Berger, of Baltimore, is a physician, poet,
and translator. Best known for translating Dr. Seuss into
Yiddish, his first chapbook, Not In the Same Breath, was
named among the Best Reads of 2011 by Jewschool.

Yermiyahu Ahron Taub is the author of three books of poetry,
Uncle Feygele (2011), What Stillness Illuminated /Vos shtilkayt
hot baloykhtn (2008), and The Insatiable Psalm (2005).
A Pushcart Prize nominee, Taub was honored by the Museum
of Jewish Heritage as one of New York's best emerging
Jewish artists.

Submissions to regular Mendele should not include personal email 
addresses, as responses will be posted for all to read.  They must also 
include the author's name as you would like it to appear.

In order to spare the shamosim time and effort, we request that
contributors adhere, when applicable, as closely as possible to standard 
English punctuation, grammar, etc. and to the YIVO rules of
