Subject: Klezmer in Africa CD

CAPE TOWN SHPIEL is a brand new CD by the Playing with Fire Klezmer Band
under the direction of Matthew Reid. For 15 years Matthew has been
responsible for a revival of interest in both klezmer music and Yiddish
song in Cape Town. He has been working on the arrangements for this CD
over the past year and is thrilled and inspired by the variety of
musicians he has been working with. There are even one or two numbers
where traditional local melodies have been interwoven into the much loved
klezmer refrains.
Cape Town Shpiel celebrates Playing with Fire and Matthew Reid's creative
energy. Proceeds from the sale of the CD go to the CJSA (Cape Jewish
Seniors Association - a local welfare organisation). The CD sells for
R140 in SA inc postage; $20 inc postage ($25 by airmail) or Eu20 inc
postage (Eu25 by airmail). Cape Town Zing - a CD of Yiddish Song with
backing by Playing with Fire is also available. To order E-mail
admin at cjsa.org.za
