To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests:

1. Send time-sensitive notices well in advance.

2. Send material as plain text: no HTML, other coding,or

attachments;and write MENDELE PERSONALS in the subject line.

3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has
posted the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames.

Tolmitch EBooks is bringing the works of the great Yiddish writer
Sholem Asch to a wider audience through their publication in eBook
format. This month we are publishing Asch's controversial bestseller,
"The Apostle." It is the story of Saul of Tarsis, a fiercely zealous
Jew who became the Apostle Paul and preached the doctrine of the New
Christianity throughout the ancient world. "The Apostle" offers a
vivid depiction of the Roman Empire. The orgies and intrigues of
Nero's court. The cruelty, decadence and intellectual arrogance of the
Roman empire. Asch saw Paul as the embodiment of the eternal link
between Jews and Christians. "The Apostle" sold 500,000 copies and was
critically acclaimed throughout the world, but was never published in
Yiddish. Asch was accused of apostasy for his sympathetic portrayal of
the New Christians and was ostracized by many members of the Jewish
community.
