Mendele Personal Notices and Announcements

________________________________

 June 3, 2014

To minimize wear and tear on the untershames, three requests:

1.Send time-sensitive notices well in advance.

2. Send material as plain text to victor.bers at yale.edu as plain text (no
HTML, other coding, or attachments and write MENDELE PERSONALS in the
subject line.

3. Correspond directly with the person who or organization which has posted
the notice, *not* with your ever-beleaguered untershames.

Date: June 1, 2014

It is with great sadness that I write to report that Michael (Motl)
Rosenbush died yesterday (Saturday, May 31). Motl was born in Lublin in
1937 and spent the war years together with his family in the Soviet Union,
initially in Siberia and later in Ukraine. The family returned to Lublin in
1946, later moved to Warsaw, still later to Belgium and eventually to
Canada. Motl had three careers: as a Professor of Russian, later as an
international personnel consultant and, after his retirement, as an active
Yiddishist, who helped to develop the *svive* movement and participated
significantly in the preparation of the Beinfeld-Bochner *Comprehensive
Yiddish-English Dictionary. *He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Kramer, and
his son, Marc. A brief obituary can be found in today's *Washington Post*
at
