Rescue During and After WWII,” led by Dr. David Fishman will take place
on Sunday, April 22 9 A.M. to 6:30 P.M. in New York City. The all-Yiddish
day will conclude with a musical program of Songs of Vilna with
Miryem-Khaye Seigel. The program is sponsored by the League for Yiddish.
Tuition: $70. Members of the League for Yiddish – $45. Students – $30.

David E. Fishman is professor of Jewish history at the Jewish Theological
Seminary of New York. His new book The Book Smugglers: Poets, Partisans,
and the race to Save Jewish Treasures from the Nazis won the National
Jewish Book Award in 2017 for a work on the Holocaust. In addition to his
books in English on the history and culture of the Jews in Eastern Europe
such as The Rise of Modern Yiddish Culture, (2005), he has published a
number of books in Yiddish: four volumes of theYIVO-Bleter (new series) and
Yiddish Drashos and Writings of Rabbi Joseph B Soloveitchik.
