The University of Iowa Division of Interdisciplinary Programs invites applications for a one-year full-time or part-time Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor in the American Indian and Native Studies Program (AINSP) for the academic year 2008-09. The appointment will begin August 20, 2008.
Duties of this position include teaching courses that serve the AINSP curriculum and another department to be determined. AINSP courses will include 149:049 Introduction to American Indian and Native Studies, 149:164 American Indian/First Nations Women, and 149:168 American Indians in the Arts. In addition, topic courses related to the candidate's areas of specialization and research will be offered. Salary commensurate with experience. Qualifications: PhD or ABD; area of specialization is open, but candidates must have training in some aspect of Native American experience.

NACA Teaching Positions: Grades 6-9th 2008-2009 School Year
Mentor Teacher - Level III Instructor (6-15 years experience desired) to support the development of a School Based New Teacher Mentor Program and certified to teach middle school curriculum in Language Arts and Social Studies. Middle school classroom experience is required and applicant must hold a valid and current New Mexico Licensure. Specifically, this instructor will work with teachers on lesson development, classroom management and content and state standards implementation. Multiple certifications preferred as well as experience with the High Qualified Teacher process and reflective teaching. This individual will also work with the Out of School Time Staff and Club leaders to develop the out-of-school time program. This position requires that the mentor teacher teach a section/ class of Humanities - Language Arts and/or Social Studies. Special Education Endorsement preferred but not required.
7-9th Grade Math/Science Instructor:
Level I - Level III Highly Qualified Certified Instructor who has experience teaching math and science at the middle school and high school level is preferred. This position will work with a mathematics team and science team to deliver curriculum at the across mid and high school grade levels. Special Education Endorsement preferred but not required.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is seeking a Director of Education with a strong vision and leadership role to establish and implement policies and procedures to guide, protect and ensure the education and development of its tribal children. The Director of Education will develop and implement standards, qualifications, guidelines and policies for tribal Tutoring and cultural awareness program and staff development for the San Manuel Education Department.

The University of Montana (UM) - Students to Academic Professoriate for American Indians (SAPAI) sponsored by the National Science Foundation to accomplish two goals at the national level.
* First, to increase rates of thesis and dissertation completion for American Indian and Alaska Natives (AIAN) graduate students in science.
* Second, to increase the AIAN representation in science faculties at Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs).
There will be three principal activities, a writing workshop, a transition to professorship workshop, and a program to provide salary support for one year to incoming TCU faculty. PACE Outreach involves engaging American Indian Women in the scientific enterprise and establishing a network of Indigenous Women Scientists.
The program manager of SAPAI and Outreach manager for PACE must be able to work both independently and with limited supervision to develop a timeline for the projects and procure the informational resources required to carry it out.
* He or she will oversee the projects adherence to the activities outlined in the proposals and strategic plans.
* He or she will oversee the development of informational resources tailored to projects needs as well as the preservation and maintenance of an easily retrievable record of all project activities.
* He or she will be responsible for directing the preparation of project written and verbal presentations, announcements, brochures, training materials, etc.
* He or she will be responsible for networking with diverse staff and faculty both on the UM campus and throughout Indian Country as well as supervision of the project including oversight of the IT specialist and student assistants.
