The Department of American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position focusing on American Indian history with an emphasis on political history (preference for post-1800). The Department of American Studies comprises eleven fully-appointed faculty and more than 30 affiliated faculty members. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and consistent scholarly productivity. UNC offers a minor in American Indian Studies and an American Studies major with a concentration in American Indian Studies. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill supports research and teaching in American Indian Studies in a variety of departments and through the American Indian Center.
