The Department of Anthropology at Stanford University, in conjunction with the
Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity, seeks to make a tenured
or tenure-track (rank open) appointment of a scholar with special expertise in
the area of indigenous studies. We seek candidates whose work focuses on
indigenous peoples and/or contemporary social movements involved with
indigenous rights, with the highest priority given to scholars with expertise
in the indigenous peoples of the Americas, North America in particular.
Research specializations might include, but are not limited to, the culture and
history of indigenous peoples, political struggles around indigenous rights,
transnational connections among indigenous peoples, indigeneity and racial
formation, law and property, modern indigenous literature and arts, and
indigenous resource management and environmental politics.
