Subject: Native American Artist Exchange at Springstep in Medford

Dear Ms. Lowe,

I wanted to let you know about a Native Artist Exchange that will be
happening at Springstep (a non-profit arts center) between March 31 and
April 6 in Medford, Massachusetts. With the help of funding from NEFA
and the NEA, Springstep will be visited by Hawaiian Halau, Halau 'o
Keikiali'i, and Pascua Yaqui tribe member, Edwardo Madril. During their
stay, Halau 'o Kiekiali'i and Madril will be presenting several
opportunities for Native American learning here at Springstep and in the
local community.

On Friday, April 1st, Springstep will be hosting a Native round-table to
bring Halau 'o Keikiali'i and Edwardo Madril together with Native New
England tribe members to share stories and experiences. On Saturday,
April 2nd, Madril, Halau 'O Keikiali'i along with Native New England
artists will share the stage in a performance of traditional dance,
music, and storytelling. On Sunday, April 3, participants can take part
in 9 different workshops from Hawaiian Hula and lei making to the Hoop
Dance. Throughout the weeks surrounding these events, there will be a
Native artist gallery up at Springstep featuring native artists from New
England.

I thought these programs would be of interest to the Harvard University
Native American Program. Edwardo Madril is also available for lectures,
demonstrations, and workshops between March 30th and April 1st. You can
find more information about him at http://www.hoopman4.com/. We are
still seeking Native performers, storytellers, and dancers to take part
in our events so please let me know if you know of anyone who you would
recommend. We'd love to see you and other members of the Harvard
University Native American Program at any or all of these programs.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I have attached a
performance flyer to this email.

Thank you!
