Job Title:   Exhibition Designer

Brief Job Description:

Working in close collaboration with the Creative Director and in alignment with the curatorial vision for each exhibition, the Exhibition Designer will develop and implement engaging exhibition design solutions from concept to execution for gallery spaces in newly renovated and expanded Renzo Piano building. Exhibition spaces include a 4,500 square feet temporary exhibition gallery as well as rotating University exhibition and permanent collection galleries.

Roles & responsibilities:

*  Ensure exhibition design is consistent with the museum's graphic identity and architecture, as well as established museum exhibition guidelines.
*  Deploy a combination of tools and technologies, including the creation of architectural drawings, elevations, renderings, maquettes and other techniques as needed, to visualize design concepts for project staff. Work collaboratively with graphic design staff responsible for exhibition signage and wayfinding.
* Lead design development process amongst key internal collaborators, including Curatorial, Academic and Public Programming, Conservation, Collections Management, Facilities Planning and Management, Safety and Security, Visitor Services, and others, including refinement of design concept according to variable exhibition needs.
*  Responsible for floor plans, case design, color palette, and lighting for all exhibitions and installations, with special consideration for the installation challenges unique to each project. These include (but are not limited to) lender or conservation requirements, security, construction specifications, access, A/V and technical needs.
*  Working closely with Exhibitions Production Manager, develop and communicate to all internal stakeholders the global work plan for exhibition installation, including fabrication, construction and installation process as well as the drafting of any construction drawings that may be required for execution.
* Foster collaborative relationships with key stakeholders within the museum, including curatorial staff, Exhibitions Production Manager, Operations and Security staff, graphic designers, registrars, and others.
*   Manage exhibition design budget to ensure that milestones are met within budgetary parameters and requisite timelines.
* Oversee external vendors responsible for production deliverables as needed, ensuring quality and consistency of exhibition design guidelines and museum identity for each project.
