Earlier this month, Daniel Heath Justice published "Letter to an Emerging Indigenous Writer"<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__lithub.com_letter-2Dto-2Dan-2Demerging-2Dindigenous-2Dwriter_&d=DwIFAw&c=cjytLXgP8ixuoHflwc-poQ&r=3Ukdq9t2jXtGDYBYCd4lhO24bkBtfSpWIx3t-kyQC3E&m=TzALrzfPbb5_JYSb1tjUn8SxPOUxd4T6CEHB2OnxuJ4&s=V8vbZVxBoj69gHL4UbGTajnxZlHxMPsk8Jh4up_WtQc&e=> on Literary Hub. As Justice explained in a prefatory remarks on social media, "I originally wrote this piece as an appendix to the new book to encourage and hold up our new generation of writers--youth, elders, and in-between--as well as the work of those who've cut trail and created the field we know and love, but it seemed like something that belonged in the world outside the book, although the two certainly share themes and a common purpose." The result is the open letter linked above.

For those unfamiliar with his work, this is the biographical note included with the publication:
