Dear Colleague:
You are cordially invited to join staff and colleagues from natural history
museums, botanical gardens, universities and related fields throughout
North America at ASC's Year 2000 Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MD. --
Information, Technology and Partnerships: Natural History Collections in
the New Millennium.
Over the past decade, the on-line revolution, rapidly changing
technologies, and new media have sparked a revolution - creating new
information-based industries, increasing demand to acquire and manage
information, and transforming how people learn and spend their leisure time.
As a result, museums, universities, and other natural history institutions
now have unprecedented opportunities to share collections, research, and
staff resources for the benefit of science and society.
How will we utilize collections and knowledge for solving real-world
problems, shaping public policy, and preparing the next generation? What
strategies and tools are needed for our institutions to thrive as centers
of excellence in the years ahead?
ASC's Year 2000 Meeting offers a unique point in time for all stakeholders
in natural history institutions to share best practices and learn from each
other. More information on ASC's Year 2000 Annual meeting is available at
http://www.ascoll.org/2000mtg.html. We look forward to seeing you in
Baltimore!
