[NHCOLL-L:457] RE: bird egg display

Realizing that I can speak with little authority on this matter I will
venture to make a recommendation of an adhesive to use.  The adhesive is
Butvar-76 or one of the other Butvar adhesives.  They have fairly good
stability.  B-76 dissolves in acetone and can be removed by softening it
with acetone.  I have used it over the past 10 years to repair broken
fossil mollusks and vertebrate bones.  You can make a solution as thin or
as viscous as is necessary to accomplish the job.
  The only caveat is that the acetone may leach out acetone soluble
materials from the egg shell.
 I believe there is a Butvar-98 and I seem to recall that it is soluble in
water.  I have had no experience with this adhesive.
