Dear James:
We use Buna-N duro 50/55 rubber and are very happy with the product. Other
museums use EPDM and also have good results. ASIH has a database of
products commonly used in ich and herp collections but for some reason these
gaskets don't seem to be listed. (But for future reference, you may want to
look at the site where you can search by product:
http://www.utexas.edu/depts/asih/coms/supply/supdat.html).
The vendor we use is Manufactured Rubber Products in Philadelphia
(215-533-3600) but there are others as well. If you send me your fax number
I'll fax a copy of a vendor list and standard size gaskets for which this
particular vendor already has dies (including the jar sizes you mention).
Susan

Hello, everybody,
I am making this inquiry for a friend here at AMNH. Does anybody know of
a
supplier (name and address) for rubber (or, preferebly, polyethylene or
polypropylene) gaskets for the old style Ball or Atlas wide mouth mason
jars with the metal clamps? I would prefer a supplier in the U.S.A., if
possible.
Thanks,
Jay Cordeiro
