I am wondering about a similar problem. How do you determine specimen value
for insurance purposes? Does anyone have a standard procedure or set of
standards that they use. We have smaller collections of birds, mammals,
reptiles, etc. that we would like to insure and need help with establishing
values. Do you simply go by replacement cost? If so, how do you value
those that cannot be replaced at all or only with great difficulty -- For
example, extinct or endangered species.

Thanks for your input.
