"THE  FOSSIL TRADE: ETHICS VERSUS SCIENCE".

The Geological Curators' Group of the U.K. is holding a one-day conference on the rights and wrongs of the Fossil Trade, on Wednesday 23 May 2001 at the Manchester University Museum, Oxford Road, Manchester, United Kingdom.  The title of the conference is, "THE COMMERCIAL TRADE: ETHICS VERSUS SCIENCE".

The provisional programme is attached below.  I am looking for a speaker, preferably a research vertebrate palaeontologist, to give an "anti-trade" talk. We expect some very lively discussion on this "hot" issue and intend at the end of the meeting to agree draft guidelines to assist and inform curators of geological collections.   The registration fee for the meeting is stlg12  (or US$20).  If you would like to attend,
