Regarding the number of turns it takes to open an aisle... This is really
a matter of the gear ratio. You can write in your bid specs what you
want. For example, we have a mechanical system which carries a lot of
weight (rated to 300 lbs per shelf--fluid collections) but on the advice
of our architect (who had consulted with various compactor companies) we
specified that you must be able to open a 36 inch wide aisle with 8
turns. It works fine.
