BILLINGS MEDAL

The Billings Medal is a biennial award honouring Elkanah Billings 
(1820-1876), the first Canadian paleontologist.  The medal is awarded 
by the Paleontology Division of the Geological Association of Canada 
to recognize distinction in research and publication in Canadian 
Paleontology.  Nomination papers should be signed by at least 2 
scientists and should describe succinctly the achievement for which 
the nomination is being made.  The nomination should also include the 
relevant data on the scientific career of the nominee.  Completed 
nominations must be submitted before February 14, 2001 to Jim
