Paleontology Preparator, Museum of Northern Arizona, Flagstaff.

The Museum of Northern Arizona (MNA) provides the ideal introduction to
the artistic traditions, cultures, and natural sciences of the Colorado
Plateau through exhibits, intergenerational programs, outdoor ventures,
and research. MNA is seeking a preparator in vertebrate paleontology for

a 12-month appointment to join its Geology Department staff, which
includes two research curators, one honorary curator, and a half-time
collection manager.  Research programs currently in progress include
plesiosaurs, dinosaurs, Mesozoic and Tertiary biostratigraphy and
biodiversity, and Pleistocene mammals.

POSITION:
Paleontology Preparator

POSITION SUMMARY:
The preparator will be responsible for management of the MNA
paleontology laboratory, management of field projects involving
excavation and inventory, and collaboration with the two curators,
collection manager, and exhibits/education personnel.  The preparator
will supervise excavations, preparation, molding, casting, restoration,
and curation of vertebrate fossils.  The preparator will be expected to
work closely with students and volunteers, and participate in public
programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor’s degree in geology or biology with emphasis on paleontology
or demonstrable experience as a preparator,
o Knowledge of comparative anatomy, taxonomy, geological field
operations, casting and molding techniques, and standard museum
conservation and curation practices.

CLASSIFICATION:
One year, full-time with opportunity to develop into additional years

SALARY:
Beginning salary is $30,000 per year plus benefits.
