This was posted over our department listserv.

Herpetology Colleagues:

I wish to call your attention to a recently advertised position for a
collections manager within the Herpetology Division of the Museum of
Southwestern Biology at the University of New Mexico. This position is
the
result of a collaborative program in Conservation Biology between the
University of New Mexico and the Charles Darwin Foundation for the
Galapagos Islands. While the primary place of employment will be at the

University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM, annual travel to the
Charles
Darwin Research Station in the Galapagos Islands will be required to
provide support for the vertebrate collections there. I have attempted
to
duplicate the posting in this message (see below), but I encourage you
read
the original posting at:

http://www.unm.edu/~hrnet/jobs/m30223.htm

or follow this path: www.unm.edu > jobs > job openings > job
opportunities > main and branch campuses > and scroll down to "museum
collection manager."

NOTE that applications are due at UNM (not post marked) by 5:00 pm RMT
on
Friday May 11, 2001. It is possible to apply electronically -
instructions
for doing so are at the end of the posting. If you apply electronically
or
by fax, it might be a good idea to confirm that the application was
received (505-277-2454).

Please note that while to position is entitled "museum collections
manager"
the actual responsibilities will be somewhat broader, reflecting the
unique
origin of the position as it relates to New Mexican Herpetology and the
Conservation Biology of the Galapagos Islands. In additional to skills
and
experience in traditional collections management I hope to find someone
with abilities in GIS, web site design and maintenance, as well as
experience and knowledge in the herpetology of New Mexico and the
Galapagos. Because of the close coordination with the Charles Darwin
Research Station a fair level of fluency in Spanish would be extremely
helpful. See the section of the posting entitled "Preference Will Be
Given
to Candidates Who Have" for more details.

I will be away from my office until Wednesday 9 May, 2001. Therefore I
won't be able to provide additional information about the position. If
you
are at all interested I encourage you to apply.

Copy of announcement follows below.

Sincerely,
