This just in...
I'm reposting the ad for a preservation specialist at IPI. We've had
great response so far, but we decided to let anyone still debating
about applying that we're closing the application date at the end of
the day June 1.
-------------------
PRESERVATION RESEARCH POSITION. The Image Permanence Institute (IPI),
a non-profit, university-based reservation research laboratory at
Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, is seeking a
conservator, preservation specialist, or conservation scientist to
work full time on issues related to storage environments in libraries,
archives, and museums. The successful candidate will have a major role
in developing new concepts and software to assist institutions in
managing collection storage and display environments. The position
requires knowledge of collections preservation, institutional
practices, and computers. Major responsibilities will be to help
develop a database
of environmental parameters for a broad
range of collection objects, communicate with over 180 participant
institutions in a field trial of IPIs hardware and software, and
perform advanced research on institutional preservation management. A
variety of experiences is a plus, and good people skills are
necessary. The
successful candidate will join a team of
applied preservation scientists, will have the opportunity to travel,
and will enjoy good benefits and a salary
commensurate with experience. Contact James Reilly, IPI Director, by
phone at (716) 475 2306, by FAX at
(716) 475-7230 or by e-mail: jmrpph at rit.edu. Inquiries held in
confidence.
