[NHCOLL-L:1060] policy on use by artists?

Do any of you (especially bird collections people) have policies on use of
your collections by artists? Specifically, do you lend specimen to artists
for reference? Do you charge (and how much) for this? Do you allow artists
to come in and examine/draw/paint from your specimens? Do you charge for
this? Do you allow certain artists or projects but not others (e.g., for
illustrations of your own staff's research but not "fine art")? How do you
decide?

I'd appreciate any information on how artists are "treated" in your
department/museum.

thanks in advance,
Robin
