Everyone,

Many distributors across the U.S. get their bottles from a company called
Owens-Illinois (O-I), based out of Toledo, OH. The distributors I have
talked to also say O-I has discontinued production of the 120mm glass jars,
as Dr. Hendler noted. If you are looking for these jars, you might want to
check out O-I's website
(http://www.o-i.com/glass/us/USDistributors/states_ALL.htm) for a list of
their U.S. distributors. Even though the 120mm jars are no longer being
produced, some distributors may still have some in stock.

In addition, you might want to take a look at the Glass Packaging
Institute's list of Canadian and American distributors
(http://www.gpi.org/Distrib.html). Some may get their products from a
company other than O-I and may have what you are looking for.

 From the Owens-Illinois website:

"It is the largest manufacturer of glass containers in the United States,
North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and China, and one of
the largest in Europe. Approximately one of every two glass containers made
worldwide is made by Owens-Illinois, its affiliates, or its licensees."

O-I's dominance in the market may present a problem for those of us with an
interest in wide-mouth jars. It would seem the alternatives to the 120mm
glass jar are either 110mm glass jars or 120mm plastic jars (unless we can
generate enough demand to persuade O-I that a market exists for ol' 120).
