Greetings all and please excuse the cross postings!

This is the first call for exhibitors and vendors for The Richmond
Insect Fair (RIF). The RIF will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2003, 9
AM - 5 PM at the 17th Street Farmers Market in downtown Richmond,
Virginia. I am looking for exhibitors, especially museums, colleges,
universities, government agencies and other outreach programs that deal
with insects. This event is a wonderful way for professional and
amateur entomological societies and clubs to raise their public profiles
and attract new members. Scouting groups, 4-H clubs and schools who
sponsor insect projects are strongly encouraged to participate. The RIF
is also a great opportunity for vendors selling anything relating to
arthropods, such as t-shirts, jewelry, artwork and crafts. The massive
ad campaign in support of this event promises to deliver a select
clientele to your display!

The RIF will feature bug chefs extraordinaire David George Gordon,
author of the Eat-A-Bug Cookbook, and Zack Lemann of the Audubon
Institute, New Orleans. Celia Stuart Whitman, Day Butterfly Center at
Callaway Gardens, has graciously offered to wrangle an insect zoo
stocked with all kinds of exciting arthropods. Gary and Diana Dunn of
the Young Entomologists Society will anchor the educational component of
the event with their displays of student activities and teacher
resources. More surprises to be announced!

The 17th Street Farmers' Market is a covered outdoor market located in
the heart of the Richmond, Virginia. The Farmers' Market is a division
of the Department of Economic Development, City of Richmond. Visit
their website at: http://www.17thstreetfarmersmarket.com/.

If you or someone you know would like to participate in the RIF, either
as an exhibitor or vendor, please contact me directly at
arthurevans at earthlink.net to receive future postings. Exhibitor and
vendor applications will be sent out just after the New Year and include
additional information on vendor fees.

I look forward to hearing from you. See you at the Richmond Insect
Fair!

Sincerely,

Arthur V. Evans, D.Sc.
