We are trying to discover more about a set of models of fungal
structures held at the Cornell Plant Pathology Herbarium. They were
made by Robert Brendel, a German purveyor of botanical models made of
resin, and were acquired by Cornell around 1869. Ours portray the
development of Penicillium cleistothecia and Rhizopus zygospores.
Each is about 45 cm tall, and they are numbered, as if part of a
larger set.
Can anyone give us any information or leads on these models and the
history of the company that produced them? I am also wondering how
they should best be cleaned of a century of accumulated dust.
