MUSEUM STUDIES NEWS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS

The Museum Studies graduate program at the University of Kansas is pleased
to announce several important changes:

*	The name of the program has been changed from Historical
Administration and Museum Studies (MHAMS) to Museum Studies. Although the
program structure has not been changed significantly, the new name is more
descriptive of the program's mission.

*	The graduate degree awarded has been changed to a Master of Arts
(M.A.) degree in Museum Studies.

*	All core Museum Studies courses are now listed under their own MUSE
numbers as well as being cross-listed in American Studies, Anthropology,
Biology, Geology, and History.

*	The Museum Studies program has added a Graduate Certificate Program
in Collections Conservation. This one-year, 12-credit-hour program is
available to graduates of the University of Kansas Museum Studies program.

The Museum Studies Program at the University of Kansas was established in
1981 and has produced 108 graduates. Program alumni work in museums,
archives, and historical sites throughout the United States, including the
Smithsonian Institution, the National Park Service, and the Kansas State
Historical Society.

Museum Studies at KU is a 42 credit hour program offering 18 credits in
museum studies basics, 6 credits of professional internship, and 18 credits
in an academic specialization (American Studies, Anthropology, Biology,
Geology, or History).
