Hello listers

I'm trying, for my dissertation at Lincoln University, UK to find out as
much as possible about insect/butterfly collections. I would be grateful for an overseas perspective:

I am looking at unusual
methods of making an insect collection: not just insects laid out
scientificaly
in cases, but 'unusual/curious/novell as in objects where insects have
been used as surface decoration (a tray decorated with insects wings) or
maybe a 'flea circus' or a ceramic 'flea catcher' (the Victorians used
them
in bedrooms). Not to forget examples of moth larvae used in the silk
manufacturing industry anf those beetles used to make the red dye.

I'm also interested in historic and modern methods of conservation as
well
as related health and safety issues.

I know this is quite a tall order! But any info. is gratefully recieved.

With best wishes

Susanne Myall
Student Conservator.
