The Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies announces the
following extended registration deadline:
"Cleaning and Preserving Finishes on Furniture"
Instructor: Arlen Heginbotham
Date: September 8 - 11, 2004
This four-day seminar is designed to give technicians an introduction to a wide variety of methods and materials for cleaning and selective varnish removal on wooden artifacts. Transparent finishes and painted surfaces will be considered.
The class will include lectures on theory, slide presentations of case histories, demonstrations, and studio work.
Please Note: $300 Scholarships from the National Endowment for the Humanities are available for this course.

The Campbell Center is a mid-career training facility for professionals in
the Historic Preservation, Collections Care, and Conservation fields.
Located in Northwestern Illinois, on the campus of the former Shimer
College, the Center is about 3 hours west of Chicago. Shuttle service is
available from Rockford, Illinois. Bus connections are available from
