[NHCOLL-L:2368] Status of The University of Arkansas Museum

The outreach portion of The Museum closed  as of  October 2003.  Collections 
then on exhibit were transferred to the state-of-the-art off-campus building 
at The University of Arkansas Collections Facility where they rejoined the 
rest of the 7-9 million natural history objects.

Interim Director is Dr. John Hehr, Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences 
(jghehr at uark.edu/479-575-3684/ Old Main 525).  The daily operations of the 
museum continue:donations are welcome, and tours and loans can be arranged by 
contacting  Mary Suter (Curator of Collections/msuter at uark.edu) or Dr. Nancy 
McCartney (Curator of Zoology/nmccartn at uark.edu). Both can be reached at 
479-575-3456.

The Herbarium continues as a separate entity under the direction of Dr. 
Johnnie Gentry (gentry at uark.edu/479-575-HERB).
