[NHCOLL-L:2411] mammal skin cold storage

We are in the process of designing new collection space for our mammal collection.    I have heard that some museums have recently redesigned their collection spaces to have a cold storage room for their mammal skins.   I was wondering if anyone could give me information on this, and the pros and cons of cold storage.
