Does anyone know of any studies on the effects of vibration on specimens in
areas adjacent to construction? Have any personal experience with
this? Part of our museum is due to undergo earthquake stabilization
measures which will include drilling 6" holes through all the support
columns; epoxy will then be pumped into the holes. Collections in the area
(invertebrates in alcohol-filled glass jars and jacketed paleo specimens)
will not be moved so specimens will be subject to varying levels of
vibration based on their proximity to the columns. We would like to know
what effects have been documented and what we need to do to project our
specimens. Any information would be very greatly appreciated. Please send
your responses to the email address below.
Many thanks,
