Many of you are familiar with the collections risk assessment
methodology developed by Rob Waller and his colleagues at the Canadian
Museum of Nature. Now Rob and CMN are partnering with AAM to adapt this
method of risk assessment for the whole museum-encompassing risks to
collections, finance, and operations. He is co-teaching the seminar
"Museum Facilities and Risk Management", which is being held June 24-25,
2005 in Pittsburgh, PA. This is presented in collaboration with the
Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa, Canada, and hosted by the Senator
John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center

The seminar will help museums balance accurately identify and assess
risks and benefits, and apply this to resolving classic conflicts
between collections and other departments about resource allocation,
policies, and planning. It is our hope this will help foster productive
discussions between collections staff, facilities managers, and
administration.
