Exhibition Preparator
Premier Exhibitions, Inc. is a fast-growing publicly traded company
(NASDAQ:PRXI) in the business of developing and touring museum quality
exhibitions. The company is currently seeking a highly qualified
Exhibitions Preparator who will report to the Collections Manager.
Responsibilities will focus on the maintenance of current traveling
exhibitions both domestically and abroad.
Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, traveling
to exhibition venues for the purpose of:
Assessing and/or repairing damaged displays
Cleaning polymer preserved specimens
Installing/deinstalling objects for press events, education events, and
maintenance
Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Evaluation of existing labels and signage throughout gallery spaces
Evaluation of environmental conditions such as lighting and temperature
Appraisal of damage/wear, which may require immediate attention, and
following through until issues are resolved.
Safe and careful handling of both historic artifacts and polymer preserved
specimens.
Requirements:
Candidate must be flexible and available to travel to domestic and
international venues, and often work outside of venue visitor hours.
The willingness to communicate with venue staff, assess issues, and often
come up with creative and safe solutions is instrumental.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree with strong interest in biology and the human body
2-5 years experience with natural history or science-oriented museum
collections
Knowledge and experience in basic mount-making and carpentry
Sensitivity to the correct handling and maintenance of museum objects
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability to climb ladders
The candidate must possess strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines
Willingness to work alone or as part of a small team.
