[NHCOLL-L:3178] cleaning white birds

Hello everyone - 

 

Do any of you have any handy tips for cleaning the once-white, now-dingy
feathers on bird mounts?  We would like to exhibit an egret and a snowy
owl, both of which have gotten grimy and need some attention.  I'm
willing to call in our conservator, but wanted to know if there were any
simple safe things I might try myself before taking that step.
