We are now seeking applicants for the following position at the Illinois 
State Museum:

Position Title: Curator of Zoology
Work Location: Illinois State Museum
Research and Collections Center
1011 East Ash Street
Springfield, IL 62703

Job Description: Oversight of collections and research program 
development in vertebrate zoology including molecular approaches to 
systematics, population biology, biogeography, natural history, or 
analyses of ancient DNA; research and publication on zoology 
collections, which would include Midwestern fauna, biogeography, natural 
history, and related themes; participation in the Museum’s 
interdisciplinary Landscape History Program; curation and upgrading of 
zoology collections; collections database management; generation of 
external funds for research and collections; participation in exhibition 
and educational programming in the sciences.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in zoology or related discipline required. 
Candidate should have: (1) educational background and research 
experience in discipline relevant to the Museum’s collections and 
programs, including Quaternary vertebrate zoology, molecular approaches 
to systematics, biogeography, natural history, or analyses of ancient 
DNA; (2) strong commitment to and experience with interdisciplinary 
approaches and research; (3) experience in museum, university, or 
comparable setting; (4) experience with zoological collections and 
database management for zoology collections; (5) strong publication 
record and the potential to generate outside funding; (6) experience 
with educational programming in the sciences preferred (7) supervisory 
experience preferred..

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
