CURATORIAL ASSISTANT
MUSEUM OF COMPARATIVE ZOOLOGY
HARVARD UNIVERSITY


The Museum of Comparative Zoology Ornithology Department invites 
applications for a full-time staff position as curatorial assistant.  The 
Curatorial Assistant in Ornithology will assume an active role in the 
maintenance and growth of the collection and will be responsible for 
projects related to the upgrading of the collection.  Responsibilities 
include cataloguing and making routine identifications of new entries; 
performing clerical functions connected with the lending of the specimens 
to other institutions; helping to maintain the order and preservation of 
specimens; assisting in the preparation, packing and receiving of loans and 
exchanges. Performs related job duties as required.  Information about the

Qualifications: College background, BS in biological or life sciences 
preferred (specialized courses and experience in ornithology). Previous 
experience working in a collection essential.  Must be trained in specimen 
preparation (preferably avian).  Ability to work independently required. 
Familiarity with collection databases helpful.  Excellent communication and 
organizational skills.  Physical strength sufficient to safely lift and 
carry boxes of specimens and supplies 50-60+ lbs.
