Excuse the x-posting:
We are currently updating our insurance policy section of our CMP. We are
an archaeological repository with the state of Georgia (University of West
Georgia). Several years ago we were told by our insurance agency that our
artifacts were not covered unless they were appraised by a certified
appraiser. We can't have every artifact here appraised, since most of it is
from CRM surveys. Recently, however, the insurance agency had a large
turnover in staff and the new head of the agency is very willing to make
changes to their policy. From what I gather, she is wanting us to present
her with a proposed policy that she could use and to better meet our needs.
The biggest question is appraisel. We would like to be able to set the
'recovery' value for the artifacts as the appraised value.
Does anyone have an example of their insurance policy that I could have?
Or, any advice on how to place a value on a research collection with
recovery value? Is this the best way?
Thanks,
Susan
