I'd like to add that lipids from specimens tissues that get extracted by 
the preservatives will greatly damage the laser printed labels. We were 
having ink dropping off the labels even without abrasion. I had a 
lengthy discussion about this topic with one of HP's ink engineers and 
he told me that fats will interact with the solvent used in the toners 
and release the ink from the paper. Thus, as John stated, label tests 
without specimens in the jars and with clean preservative are pretty 
much useless.
