I need help finding small quantities of bottles to hold wet (ethanol)
collections of insects. We have a number of insect collections that were
made 15 to 20 years ago and stored in various sizes of vials and
bottles. The vials (4 dram - item A. on the attached view) use rubber
stoppers and hold their contents very well.
However, we also have collections of slightly larger insects (bottles B
thru E) in various designs of lids. Sometime these snap on and screw on
lids hold the alcohol well - but most often after extended years, we
find bottles with most of the contents evaporated. We don't have large
numbers of these other containers. Currently we have gone through and
re-filled the containers with fresh ethanol - but I'd like to replace
them with containers that hold the fluids better. We have some excellent
larger containers that we use for herps and fish - but they would be
much too large for our insects.
Can anyone direct me to a supplier than offers bottles in these size
ranges (could all be one size, especially if closest to the larger
bottle, B) with lids than hold fluids better? Alternately, is there any
film or sealant that I can place between the lid and the jar that would
seal it better?
Any and all suggestions are welcome!
Bob
