Hello Listers, (apologies for cross-posting)
Now that the 2007 Society of Vertebrate Paleontology abstract submission page is open for the October Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, the Preparator's Committee would like to encourage any of you who have a preparation aspect of your work that would benefit the prep and research communities to consider giving a presentation at the Preparator's Session. This year's emphasis is on - but not limited to - basic preparation techniques: the procedures and tools you use every day. We can all benefit from revisiting the basics from time to time to brush up on and refine our technique, if not to learn it for the first time. With that in mind, even if you're considering a topic that does not cover a basic prep technique we're asking that you describe, whenever possible, some of the basic techniques you used to achieve the objective in your presentation.
**Please Note** There can be NO mention of commercial vendors, product names, etc, in our abstracts now. Only generic references are allowed (you can say you used RTV silicone, but not that you used Dow Corning HS III, for example). However, you can say whatever you need to in your talk to give the most complete and accurate information.
The abstract submission system for the Meeting opened Thursday, March 15 (http://www.vertpaleo.org/abstract/) and will remain open through TUESDAY, MAY 15, 2007 at 12:00 a.m., Central Daylight Time. All abstracts must be submitted within this interval.
Thanks. Please consider contributing to the shared principles of preparation, and if you have any questions feel free to contact Bill Sanders (wsanders at umich.edu), Kyle Davies (ankylo at ou.edu), or Steve Jabo (jabos at si.edu).
Best regards,
Steve
