AIC-CERT Deployed to Iowa Flood Zones
Washington, D.C.—Cultural institutions suffering collections damage from
flooding can request help by calling a 24-hour assistance line at 202.661.8068.
The American Institute for ConservationÕs Collections Emergency Response Team
(AIC-CERT) members are trained to assess damage and initiate salvage of
cultural collections after a disaster has occurred.
On request from a cultural institution in need, team members will answer
questions by phone or be dispatched at no charge to the institution to work with
staff and volunteers to save the collections. Once an assessment has taken
place, team members can also have necessary clean-up and re-housing supplies
ordered and delivered at no cost to the institution.
The Institute for Museum & Library Services provided funding for advanced
emergency response training and is providing additional funds for deployment
and supplies.
For 24-hour assistance, call 202.661.8068.
