The National Museum of Natural History has available for purchase
through the General Services Administration (GSA) a large number of
older used museum collections storage cabinets in a number of sizes.
The purchase price is one US dollar per cabinet, regardless of the size
of the cabinet. These cabinets may be coated with lead-based paint.
Felt gasket material present in certain of these cases may have been
treated with arsenic for pest control purposes. Anyone interested in
acquiring these cabinets, as is, should contact Lynn Ellington,
202-633-1870, for additional information and current availability,
including the availability of drawers for the Vertebrate Zoology (VZ)
and Anthropology cabinets described below. Ms. Ellington will provide
information for purchasing the cabinets from GSA.
Units are available on a first come first served basis. Purchasers will
be responsible for removal of units from the NMNH premises. Pick up
will be arranged upon Ms. Ellington's receipt from the purchaser of a
copy of the GSA "Purchaser's Receipt and Authority to Release Property"
form stating that payment for the cabinets has been made.
