Job Announcement

 

The American Museum of Natural History, Traveling Exhibition Program is
seeking a qualified individual to act as a contract Conservator/Preparator
for their traveling exhibition Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries.
The qualified person must be able and willing to travel domestically for one
to two weeks at a time starting September 20th, 2009. A complete schedule
can be sent to interested and qualified candidates.

 

Qualifications:

Required-

-         5 years experience working with museum collections

-         Knowledge of object conservation and handling

-         Experience in the repair of fossils and knowledge of appropriate
materials used in such repairs

-         Ability to lift 50 lbs

-         Attention to detail and ability to perform under tight deadlines

-         Willingness to work as part of a team

-         Quick learner

Desirable

-         Knowledge of vertebrate anatomy

-         Experience working with paleontological collections

-         Experience of fossil preparation
